Danny Thomas opened St. Jude Children's Research Hospital February 4, 1962, fulfilling a promise to St. Jude Thaddeus that he would build him a shrine if he became successful. Memphis was chosen at the suggestion of Roman Catholic Cardinal Samuel Stitch, a Tennessee native who had been a spiritual advisor to Thomas. Ernest Withers covered this event and graced us with breathtaking images that tell the story loudly and clearly without manuscript.
The Wither's Collection and I have partnered to present a Collector's Series of the work of Dr. Withers. This series will include 4 carefully selected 16' X 20" images of Danny Thomas and those participating in the festivities. They have been both professionally developed in Premium Luster and exquisitely matted (29" X 35") utilizing the Archival Museum Protocol. Each series will be limited to 250 sets, that will be signed, numbered and include a Certificate of Authenticity. The set offered is titled "TRUE SAINT". It features Danny Thomas and the Grand Opening of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. THE PRICE LISTED IS FOR UNFRAMED, MATTED AND SIGNED IMAGES. FRAMING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE.
